I went to the Mountain and the Mountain Was Gone!

Mountain top removal is a way to get all the clear cut lumber, rock, and coal from a mountain. The mountain is blasted and cleared to level. I know that people must have jobs and in Eastern Kentucky coal mining jobs pay well. But at the same time when a mountain is removed it is gone forever. It destroys the habitat for animals and natural beauty of the mountain range. Surely there is a better way. If we brought the toy manufacturing back from China we could save our children the illness that come along with lead based paint and toys that can harm them. Wouldn't this be a better way to spend our resources? One argument is that we have to pay our workers too much money. Well, what is the cost of recalls, extra insurance the mfg has to pay, extra quality control, and the hidden cost of damage to our children? I think we can afford to bring our toys home. I think we should!
